Doris Jean Ebert, 85, of rural Clyde died on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Arbors of Clyde.

Mrs. Ebert was born in Sandusky Co., on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1924 to the now deceased John and Ethel (Rimelspach) Parlow. Her family was native to the area, and her paternal grandfather, William F. Parlow, had been the caretaker, gardener, and stockman at Spiegel Grove for President Rutherford B. Hayes. She graduated from Ross High School in 1942 and had worked first at Howard Zink Co.; the Penguin Locker and finally for the Clyde Schools in the cafeteria for twenty five years, most of those at Vine Street School, being head cook for a number of years.

Doris was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Fremont where she was a member of the Altar Guild; Dorcas Society; Rachel Circle. She had be in the church choir for forty years; member of the hand bell choir; helped with Luther League and Junior Lutherans. Doris had been superintendent of the Sunday School for twenty-five years, as well as a former teacher. She was the church’s kitchen co-chair and helped with funeral luncheons. She, along with her late husband, had volunteered for many years at the Lutheran Memorial Camp. Mrs. Ebert also belonged to the Golden Threads; and OAPSE.

On October 16, 1948, she married Lloyd Fuller Ebert and he preceded her in death on December 10, 1987. Also preceding her was a grandson, Jeffrey Ebert; and half siblings; Hazel Ruth Rogers; Alma Tibbits and Wilford “Bud” Parlow.

Survivors include one son, William (Gail) Ebert, Fremont; and daughter, Tina (Philip) Wuorinen, Cincinnati; five grandchildren, Timothy (Angie) Ebert; Corey Ebert (Ashley Covault); Kalli Ebert; Alissa Wuorinen and Zachary Wuorinen; three great grandchildren, Liza, Benett; and Sydnee Ebert. One brother, Paul E. (Carole) Parlow of Jenison, Mi; and half sister, Eileen Phillips, of Perrysburg also survive.
