Surrounded by her sons and daughter, Nestle Lucille Lee “Sue” McMurtrie died on Monday, December 21, 2009 at her home in Clyde.

A life long resident of Clyde Sue was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Clyde for over sixty years, where she served as an elder; a fifty year member of Green Hills Golf Club; a sixty year member of the Women’s International and Ohio Bowling Congress, where she served as President of many local and state bowling organizations; the Clyde Women’s Business Association; Clyde Garden Club; Antique Club and many other civic organizations. In her golfing career, she played in many local and regional tournaments, winning in many that she entered.

Sue loved her bridge group, playing regularly with her friends. Gardening was her passion in the spring and summer. She was a fierce competitor in the Senior Olympics, winning over thirty medals in golf and other sports.



She was a self employed business owner, having owned and operated, along with her late husband, the former Cottage Motel, in Clyde; as well as a restaurant and gas station.

Survivors include her five sons, R. LaMar (Carol) Frederick, Lambertville, Michigan; Donald D. Frederick, Holt, MI; Monty L. (Mary) Frederick, Course Gold, CA; Larry N. Frederick, Fremont; and Jeffrey P. (Elizabeth) McMurtrie, Kirtland, Ohio; and one daughter, Carol Lynn (Bud) Gill, Clyde. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren and three great,great grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, William R. McMurtrie, whom she married on November 24, 1950 and he died on March 19, 2003 as well as her parents, Nelson David and Loma Ruth (Everly) Lee and a half brother, Russell Willis and have sister, Pauline Martin.
